Exhibit Marketplace By Kathy Howard The National Convention in Phoenix, AZ was the 65th annual convention for the AMTA. It was a week filled with great continuing education courses, the House of Delegates Meeting, fun excursions, networking, fellowship, and the wonderful Exhibit Marketplace. At the Marketplace this year, there were over 125 vendors and exhibitors, many of which were sampling their products and services. The variety of exhibitors was wide and varied. One could find massages tables and chairs, essential oils, lotions and aromatherapy, and every type of health care product, service and accessory that any massage therapist could ever want - all under one roof. Books, publications, videos, music and software systems were plentiful. There were opportunities to talk with representatives from schools, seminars, and insurance providers. Many of the various professional organizations were represented. There were lots of free samples, giveaways, and drawings among the vendors. The grand prize drawing from the AMTA was a paid trip to the 2009 National Convention in Orlando, FL. As people strolled around the Exhibit Marketplace, they could see and try different demonstrations of a wide variety of modalities. Many massage therapists sampled traditional modalities. One could also try the more unusual experiences like cupping, meditation, toe reading, and Rossiter. In addition to having the privilege and the honor of serving as a delegate at this convention, I was also fortunate to be on the exhibitors' side at the Rossiter booth. It was quite an experience having the opportunity to introduce this work to so many massage therapists. I was able to demonstrate techniques on them so they could see firsthand the power and effectiveness of The Rossiter System. They could see and feel how they can save their hands and extend their careers with Rossiter. How great it was being able to wear the different hats at this year's national convention! |
